Returning and prospective members of Central Valley High School's varsity girls basketball team have shown a great deal of improvement during the course of the 2015 summer season.

The Hawks completed their fourth week of competition last week.

"We're having fun," head coach Jesse Padilla said.

Central Valley posted a 4-6 record at the Long Beach State Camp (June 23-25).

"They're doing what I ask," Padilla said. "The big thing for us this year is communication."

The Hawks played 10 times in a three-day span.

"That's a lot of games," Padilla said. "They welcomed the challenge."

Central Valley's roster consists of: Mikayla Mabie, Nicole Munoz, Alyssa Costa, Simi Sahota, Teresa Diaz, Blanca Espinoza, Adriana Haynes, Adria Robinson, Angelica Duarte, Isha Chahal and Dream Miranda.

The Hawks' summer campaign got underway on June 2 and will end this week.

Central Valley will play a total of 31 games by season's end.

"We're building chemistry," Padilla said.

The Hawks had a 21-10 overall record as of Monday.

"The new girls are learning our system for next year," Padilla said. "We got everybody coming back except for two players. We'll have a chance to win the WAC."
