Lady wrestlers enjoy successes at Women’s Havoc event

Members of Central Valley’s and Ceres High’s girls wrestling programs experienced success while competing at the Women's Havoc in the Hawksnest on Nov. 18 in Ceres.

The Hawks and Bulldogs took home a combined 29 individual medals.

The top three finishers in each weight class were rewarded.

“It was a fun tournament,” commented Ceres High Coach Curtis Hulstine. 

Host Central Valley’s Brianna Espinoza placed first in the heavyweight varsity division. She won by pin (0:24) against Livingston’s Jaritzin Torivio.

CV’s Keilany Torres placed second in the 106-pound varsity division. She lost by pin (2:13) to Turlock’s Aliah Bertalotto in the finals.

CV’s Marianna Carranza placed third in the 137-pound varsity division, winning by decision (6-5) against Pacheco’s Angelique Garcia Zauala.

CV’s Mia Mendoza placed third in the 160-pound varsity division. She won by pin (1:00) against El Capitan’s Sienna Moua.

CV’s Aliyah Badillo placed fourth in the 121-pound varsity division. She lost by pin (1:26) to Atwater’s Yulissa Vargas during the third-place match.

Ceres High’s Makynzie Hale placed second in the 189-pound varsity division.

She lost by technical fall (17-2) to Los Banos' Mikayla Mendoza.

Ceres High's Madeline Schultz placed third in the 170-pound varsity division.

CV’s Samantha Padilla and Tarnjot Kaur and CHS’ Evanah Gallardo placed first, second and third, respectively, in the Pool II 116-pound junior-varsity division.

Padilla won by pin against Kaur (0:37) and Gallardo (0:55). Kaur won by pin (2:50) against Gallardo.

CV’s Isabella Gardner placed first in the Pool II 137-pound JV division. She collected wins against Turlock’s Isabella Chaidez (pin, 2:24) and Liberty Ranch’s Veronika Shayden (pin, 1:16).

Micaela Martinez (CVHS) and Camila Orellana (CHS) placed first and fourth, respectively, in the 143-pound JV division. Martinez collected wins against Orellana (pin, 0:22), Livingston’s Alondra Revuelta (pin, 3:34) and Los Banos’ Avalina Arnold (pin, 1:56).

Gianna Breshears (CV) placed first in the Pool II 150-pound JV division.

Bhrooke Pittman (CHS) and Evelyn Zambrano(CV) placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Breshears collected wins against Pittman (pin, 0:11), Zambrano (pin, 0:41), Livingston’s Noemi Revuelta (pin) and Roselyn Ponce (pin, 0:21), and Los Banos’ Ava Browning (pin, 0:20). Pittman won by pin (2:05) against Zambrano.

Arleth Sanchez and Alanize Moreno (both CHS) and Vanesa Mendoza Balbuena (CVHS) placed first, second and third, respectively, in the heavyweight JV division. Sanchez collected wins against Moreno (decision, 3-2),  Mendoza Balbuena (pin, 2:00), Buhach Colony’s Joana Lopez-Padilla (pin, 2:52) and Ripon’s Samantha Lawrence (pin, 1:13).

Moreno collected wins against Balbuena (decision, 9-2), Lawrence (pin, 1:09), Lopez-Padilla (forfeit) and El Capitan’s Angela Hill (pin, 2:46).

Mendoza Balbuena collected wins against Hill (pin, 1:10), Lopez-Padilla (pin, 2:39) and Lawrence (pin, 0:51).

Central Valley’s Kendall Fleeman placed second in the Pool I 116-pound junior-varsity division. She collected wins against Pacheco’s Paola Martinez (pin, 3:25) and Liberty Ranch’s Anastasia Richardson (pin, 0:31).

Ceres High’s Eva Onsurez-Lopez placed second in the Pool I 126-pound JV division. She collected wins against Patterson’s Abigail Rosales (pin, 1:10), Ripon’s Kamalpreet Kaur (pin, 1:04) and Johansen’s Azaria Valdez (pin, 1:14).

Ceres High's Jaden Stahl placed third in the Pool II 126-pound JV division.

She won by pin (1:29) against El Capitan's Delaney Montes.

Central Valley’s Alicia Espinoza and Gabriella Ramirez placed second and third, respectively, in the Pool I 170-pound JV division.

Espinoza collected wins against Ramirez (pin, 0:29) and Central Catholic's Jillian Alderson (pin, 0:18).

Ramirez won by pin (0:53) against Alderson.

Central Valley's Destiny Marron and Adamariz Espinoza placed second and third, respectively, in the Pool II 170-pound JV division.

Marron won by pin (1:00) against Espinoza.

Ceres High’s Jadasa Haro placed third in the Pool II 111-pound JV division.

Haro collected wins against Buhach Colony’s Sophia Romero (pin, 0:25) and Golden Valley’ss Ana Perez-Hernandez (pin, 0:19).

Central Valley’s Yazmine McClain placed third in the Pool I 111-pound JV division.

She collected wins against Buhach Colony’s Daisy Lee (pin, 3:48) and Ceres High’s Isabella Nungaray (pin (0:57).

Nungaray placed fourth. She won by pin (0:42) against Lee.

Natalie Serena Garcia (CV) placed third in the Pool II 121-pound JV division.

Serena Garcia collected wins against Livingston’s Nadya Henson (pin, 0:39) and Buhach Colony’s Tasia-Octavia Craf (decision, 10-4).

Central Valley’s Itzel’s Romero placed fifth in the Pool I 121-pound JV division.

Romero won by forfeit against Livingston’s Evelyn Ponce.

Ceres High’s Kaleia Allen placed third in the Pool I 189-pound division.

Allen collected wins against Los Banos’ Maria Gonzalez (pin, 1:18) and El Capitan's Manuela Higareda Chavez (pin, 0:59).

Elizabeth Boyd (CHS), Rylee Randez (CV) and Paula Robles (CHS) placed second, third and fourth, respectively, in the Pool II 189-pound division.

Boyd collected wins against Robles (pin, 0:56), Randez (decision, 5-3) and El Capitan's Odalys Orellana (pin, 0:49). Randez collected wins against Robles (pin, 2:07) and Odalys (pin, 2:52). Robles won by pin (0:11) against Orellana.

Dayanna Alvarez (CHS) and Taylor McGuire (CV) placed third and fifth, respectively, in the Pool I 150-pound JV division.

Alvarez collected wins against McGuire (pin, 1:15), Pacheco’s Dakota Butler (pin, 0:29) and Livingston’s Kiranpreet Bains (sudden victory, 9-7).

McGuire won by pin (3:22) against Butler.

Central Valley’s Lucero Maciel placed fifth in the Pool II 131-pound JV division.

Ceres High’s Jada Bryant placed sixth in the Pool II 160-pound JV division.

She won by decision (13-8) against Los Banos’ Laura Dupuch.
