Vaneza Hoover struck out 27 batters and allowed no runs in leading Ceres High School's varsity softball team to a pair of victories during the first week of the Valley Oak League season.

"She's amazing right now," head coach Donnie Donaldson said. "She's hitting her spots and keeping the ball away from the batters. I'm really pleased with that."
