The right-handed junior helped lead the Bulldogs to a pair of non-conference victories.

"She looked really good," head coach Donnie Donaldson said.

In her first start of the season, Hoover allowed four hits and one run, struck out eight and walked one as Ceres High beat visiting Enochs 4-1 on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs batted 7-for-24 as a team against the Eagles. Hoover singled and walked twice. Chelsea Lomeli finished 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run and two RBI. Shaye Farriester went 1-for-2 with one run and an RBI. Amanda Lampley doubled and drove in a run. Cassie Rayford scored once and knocked in a run. Mika Johnson singled and scored a run. Vaneza threw seven strong innings during Ceres High's 3-1 victory over Modesto High on Saturday at Davis Park.

She surrendered one hit and one unearned run with 11 strikeouts and two walks.

The two teams combined for three hits and five errors.

Johnson batted 1-for-3 with one run. Lomeli and Hillary Haley both scored once. Jode Johnson, Mika's younger sister, singled.
