The Ceres Gray 7-8-year-old all-star baseball team enjoyed a successful start to the summer.

Host Ceres placed first in the Silver Division at the 41st Annual George Costa Tournament, held June 24-July 1.

The Gray All-Stars won all five of their games in dominant fashion.

"These kids are doing something I've never seen before," head coach Tommy Trevino said. "It's pretty amazing."

Ceres shut out Bel Passi Storm 16-0 for the title on July 1.

"The kids were dialed in," Trevino said.

The Gray All-Stars topped Bel Passi Storm (16-0, 11-0) and Waterford (10-0, 14-0) twice, and Bel Passi Blue (13-3) once at the Costa event.

Ceres held a 64-3 advantage in runs scored.

"Somebody else stepped up every game," Trevino said. "I'm proud of the kids. They met my expectations. I give a lot of the credit to my coaching staff. They make my job easier."

The Ceres Red eight-and-under all-star baseball squad compiled an 0-4 record in the Gold Division of the Costa tournament.

The Red All-Stars lost twice to Bel Passi Red (10-1, 11-3), and once to Atwater Little League (5-2) and Atwater Youth Baseball (15-10).

"The kids wanted to win," head coach Mark Partida said. "We just couldn't put everything together."
