JV Hawks impress

Central Valley High School's junior-varsity wrestling team put on a show at the Atwater tournament on Dec. 4.

"I can't explain it," Hawks coach Mike Senseney said. "I wish I would have filmed it. I never saw that much energy and aggressiveness from our kids. I'm proud of them."

Ten of Central Valley's 15 grapplers brought home medals.

Vincent Martinez, Miguel Espinoza and Christian Garcia took first at 125, 130 and 160 pounds, respectively.

Michael Manzur (103s), PJ Singh (112), Eddy Nunez (152) and Frank Hernandez (215) all finished in second place.

Eddy Lopez (171) and Josue Hernandez (171) both placed third.

"I'm really happy for the kids," Senseney said. "We've been working them really hard in the wrestling room. We have a bright future."
