The Ceres Dolphins recreational swim club had a glorious summer.
Ceres wrapped up its 2010 campaign with a fourth-place finish at the MVSL championships on July 24.
The Dolphins took third at the Oakdale and Tracy competitions, and fourth at the Sea Dogs Invitational during the regular season.
Ceres also broke close to 20 meet records.
"In my seven years I've been associated with the Dolphins, this is the most success we've had as a team," head coach Tracy Bull said.
Tyler Padilla (17-18 boys), Cassandra Guevara (15-16 girls), Haley Fisicaro (13-14 girls), Jadyn Shinn (7-8 girls), Jordan Shinn (6&under boys) and Emma Silveira (6&under girls) won overall titles for their age groups at the MVSL competition.
Jadyn finished the season with a perfect 28-0 record. She won high-point trophies at four different meets.
"She's worked hard for it," Bull said.
Shinn's unbeaten streak almost came to an end at the MVSL championships. She managed to beat Tracy's Malia Fernandez in the 25 back despite getting tangled in the lane line late in the race. She won by nine one-hundredths of a second.
"To be honest with you, my heart was in my throat," Bull said. "I didn't know if she was going to win. She lunged and got her at the wall."
Cierra Alvear (15-16 girls) was a double-winner at the league finals. She finished first in both the 100 IM and 50 breast.
Montana Bull (15-16 girls) captured the 50-back title.
Maci Farinha, 3, and four-year-olds Cailan Kelley, Heather Starkweather and Claire Venturini turned in an inspiring performance the previous week against the Turlock Marlins and Modesto Sharks while teaming up in the six-and-under mixed 100 free relay.
Farinha, Kelley, Starkweather and Venturini completed the event in 5 minutes, 23.54 seconds. The winning time was 1:25.
"To have these little kids swim the length of the pool all by themselves was awesome," Bull said. "Everyone was watching because it was so cute."
Claire and Cailan hadn't competed all year.
"I've been trying to get that relay together for the past month," Bull said. "I had to convince the parents first."
