Central Valley's Scott Myatt, and Ceres High's Brent Ward, Dustin Baisdon and Tyler Cummings have been selected to play in the 22nd Annual Modesto Sunrise Rotary All-Star Baseball Classic.
Myatt, Ward, Baisdon and Cummings will suit up for the West squad in the large-school game this Saturday at John Thurman Field.
"We all worked hard," Myatt said. "To be rewarded is a good validation."
Scott, Brent, Dustin and Tyler will team up with Beyer's Connor Torres and Jake Scott, Enochs' Tyler Galloway and Chris Garcia, Downey's Kyle Robinson, Cody Simar, Devon Gradford and Bryce Nakai, and Oakdale's Oakdale's Brennon Williams, Kody Simmons and Russell Longworth.
The East team features Modesto High's Klayton Miller and Zach Yoppini, Johansen's Cody Smartwood and Ryan Lehikainen, Pitman's Adam Nascimento, Clay Cozzitorto, A.J. Derr, Brandon Lewis and Zach Olsen, Turlock's Kevin Kramer, Ryan Cumberland, James Heller, Jeremey Mcdonald, Ryan Brown, and Davis' Adam Austin.
"I'm looking forward to showchasing our talent and having fun," Myatt said. "We want to win."
Ward had a memorable final season with the Bulldogs. The left-handed slugger/outfielder won the Western Athletic Conference Most Valuable Offensive Player award. Brent hit .476 (20-for-42) with one homer, one triple, four doubles, 12 RBIs, 11 runs and six stolen bases.
Baisdon, a standout centerfielder, earned first-team, all-conference honors. Dustin batted .442 (23-for-52) with four doubles, four RBIs, 12 runs and six stolen bases.
Cummings was named to the WAC second team.
Tyler posted a 4-1 record with a 2.85 ERA, 30 strikeouts and two completes games while pitching.
Myatt, a first-team selection, starred at catcher. Scott batted .250 (10-for-40) with three singles, one RBI and four runs. He threw out and picked off multiple runners on defense.
Ward, Baisdon and Cummings will continue their baseball careers at Cal State Stanislaus.
Myatt will try to earn a walk-on spot at Fresno State.
"I don't want to stop playing," Scott said.
The all-star contest will be get underway at 7:05 p.m.
"I've gone to a lot of Modesto Nuts and A's games over the years," Myatt said. "Getting to play on that field is a dream come true."
