Greg Guerra, Ruben Casas and Chris Moscozo all had standout individual campaigns during the Central Valley High School varsity baseball team's 2010 season.

On Tuesday, May 18 at Bachi's Family Diners in Oakdale, Guerra, Moscozo and Casas were among the players recognized in a vote by the Valley Oak League's head coaches.

Guerra, a senior pitcher and third baseman, was named to the VOL second team.

On the mound, he posted a 4-3 record with a 3.20 ERA, one shutout, six complete games and 47 strikeouts. He collected wins VOL champion Oakdale, third-place Ceres High, East Union and Weston Ranch.

On offense, Guerra hit .333 (19-for-57) with one triple, five doubles, 12 RBIs, six runs, four stolen bases and a .456 slugging percentage.

"He will definitely be missed," Hawks head coach Greg Magni said. "You can't replace a guy like that. You could count on him every year. His numbers prove it. He's been a part of every game we've won."

Casas and Moscozo were honorable-mention picks.

Ruben, a freshman second baseman, batted .452 (14-for-31) with one triple, four doubles, nine RBIs, eight runs, three stolen bases, a .645 slugging percentage and a .528 on-base percentage in 13 league games.

"We knew he would be good, but I was mostly banking on his glove," Magni said. "To do what he did offensively was just icing on the cake."

Chris, a junior leftfielder, had a .270 batting average (10-for-37), three triples, 13 RBIs, seven runs and .432 slugging percentage.

"He's got great bat speed," Magni said. "He's strong. He's such a good athlete. He was so much better than he was last year."

Central Valley finished in fifth place in the VOL standings with a 7-9 record. The Hawks concluded the season with back-to-back wins.
