The Ceres Youth Baseball & Softball Organization staged its closing ceremonies at George Costa Ball Field Complex this past month.

"We thanked all the kids, parents, sponsors and board members," President Lance Goblirsch said. "Everything went well."

The top-three teams in each division, excluding t-ball, were awarded trophies.

Participation medals were handed out as well.

Jake Loveland and Jacob Hurt filled the head umpire and groundskeeper positions, respectively, this year.

More than 4,000 people, including 1,000 players aged 5-18, attended the Ceres Youth Baseball & Softball Organization's Opening Day Rededication Ceremony in April.

The city used $2.4 million in redevelopment funds to overhaul the entire complex.

Attendance soared according to Goblirsch.

"It seemed like there was a lot more people here," he said. "It's just a lot different now."
