Twice in as many weeks, Ceres Unified School District officials have sent out "stranger danger alerts" in response to two separate possible kidnapping attempts.

The first alert was sent out on Sept. 11 after a student at Caswell Elementary School reported that a man tried to get her into his vehicle.

The 10-year-old female student reported that she was walking home in the 1800 block of Central Avenue at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 when she was approached by a man driving a newer Ford Expedition with gray interior. The driver was described as a Hispanic male, late 20s or early 30s, with short black hair, wearing a white T-shirt and with a diamond-studded earring in his right year. He was calling out to the girl who ignored the man. The girl said she was followed by the man.

The incident wasn't reported until the next day.

The girl thought she saw the same man the next day dropping off someone at Ceres High School in a red Sedan but was unsure if it was the same guy.

The second incident occurred near Don Pedro Elementary School at 3:20 p.m. on Sept. 18. A Ceres woman was walking her four-year-old son home from the school in the area of Don Pedro and Central Avenue. She noticed a man and woman sitting on ground near a tree. As she walked by the suspects began following her. The mother grabbed her son's hand and began walking faster when the female suspect reached out and tried to grab the kid by the shirt. The mom tugged back. The attempt was thwarted, said Ceres Deputy Police Chief Mike Borges, when a patrol car was spotted in the area. The mother didn't call police until the next day because she was scared, said Borges.

The suspects were described as a white female in her 40s, 5-foot-8, 150 pounds, brown hair, wearing red shirt and blue jeans.

The male suspect was described as white in his 60s, 6-foot, 150 pounds, gray hair, white T shirt and blue jeans.
