The teen victims said they were walking home when approached by Garcia at 11:11 p.m. He began waving the gun as the victims were approaching, causing the victims to run off and hide in a darkened yard. Some time later Garcia followed the female into the store. Police said that Garcia placed his arm around the female's neck, and raised his shirt to expose the gun tucked in his waistband. He told her that he needed a ride in her vehicle and she refused. The suspect demanded a ride again and waited for her outside the store.

Officer Chris Melton arrived and found Garcia and Mario Ramirez, 30. Ramirez was arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest.

The pellet gun was found hidden inside of the 7-Eleven.
