• ARMED ROBBERY: CERES - Police are searching for the man who robbed the APS Market as he brandished a pink Taser.

The robbery occurred at 10:20 p.m. on Thursday. The clerk at APS Market, located at 3505 Central Avenue, said a man described to be either Caucasian or Hispanic in his early 20's walked in and demanded cash as he held the Taser. The robber, who was wearing all black and his face covered, then produced a revolver demanding more money than the employee had in the register. The assailant escaped on foot southbound on Central Avenue in Ceres with an undisclosed amount of money .

• TEEN SHOT IN DRIVE-BY: CERES - A 19-year-old male was struck in the foot by bullets sprayed at his house during a drive-by shooting early Thursday morning.

The attack came at 1:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of Sixth Street.

Police say assailants fired at the house at least seven times with one round striking the teen as he was laying in bed. The victim was reportedly not cooperative with police "at all," said Lt. Brent Smith. He was taken to Doctors Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

• PAROLEE FOUND WITH DRUGS: CERES - Ceres parolee Eddie Krueger, 46, was arrested for drug possession and for stealing a motorcycle on Saturday.

At 2:30 a.m. officers patrolling the 2600 block of Canyon Drive spotted Krueger as he was sitting on a motorcycle. The officers did a search and found him with four grams of methamphetamine. He was booked for possession.

The next day, police learned that the motorcycle had been reported stolen. Thus the parolee gained the additional charges of auto theft and possession of stolen property.

• RESIDENT AWAKENED BY DOOR KICK: CERES - A resident was awakened from his day sleep Thursday afternoon by the sound of someone trying to kick in the front door of his house in the 900 block of Hackett Road. He went to the door and saw Hispanic males eastbound on Hackett. He then called police at 12:35 p.m.

A day prior, a home in the Aristocrat and Malik area was victimized by burglars who entered by kicking in a door. Lt. Brent Smith said daytime residential burglaries are occurring in the area.

• TRAFFIC STOP NETS METH: CERES - Officer Freddie Ortiz pulled over the driver of a Volvo for traffic violations Wednesday, Aug. 24, and ended up making a drug arrest.

Ortiz made the traffic stop at Hatch Road and Central Avenue at 9:20 p.m. The officer saw the driver, Epigmenio Juarez, 30, of Ceres, toss an item out the window. The item was retrieved and proved to be a baggie containing methamphetamine.

Juarez was found with a total of two baggies totaling two grams of meth. He also was found in possession of a pair of brass knuckles. Juarez was charged with possession of methamphetamine and driving without a license.

• MISSING CHILD LOCATED: SOUTH MODESTO- A three-year-old child reported missing in the 1200 block of Latimer Avenue Sunday afternoon was found sleeping in a car about 30 minutes after a search was launched.

Sheriff's deputies were called at 2:58 p.m. and later located the boy in the rear passenger floorboard of a hot vehicle parked in front of the house. The child needed medical attention because of heat exposure and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The search included officers form Modesto and Ceres police departments and fire fighters.

The boy recovered but a follow-up investigation is occurring to see about possible neglect.
