Ceres man’s body in canal
Canal
The Ceres Main Canal between Ceres and Hughson yielded the body of a Ceres man on Saturday.

The body of a 66-year-old Ceres man was found Saturday in the Turlock Irrigation District’s Ceres Main Canal along Hatch Road near Euclid Road.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the dead man as Teodoro Martinez.

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death and whether it is linked to an abandoned Toyota Camry that had been towed from that area the day before the discovery of the body. The car’s right front tire was parked on the edge of the canal but the car body was not damaged. The California Highway Patrol had the car towed after it was reported at 5:36 a.m. on Friday.
