The Ceres Recreation Department plans to offer in-person classes this fall, including gymnastics.

The Ceres Recreation Department is tentatively planning to re-open in-person programs this October, including tennis, dance and gymnastics.

Ceres had to cancel all in-person summer camps and classes through the end of August because of the COVID-19 pandemic and state guidelines.

“We’re officially opening registration for everything we offer in the fall next week,” Ceres Recreation Administrative Coordinator Maya Narvaez said.

“We’re planning on offering in-person classes if our county allows us to open,” she added. “We won’t open if it’s not safe enough for the public.”

A flyer with the list of available classes will be posted on the city of Ceres’ website this Thursday.

Online registration will open at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 9.

The Recreation Department currently offers online classes.

Registration for Kidz Love Soccer youth classes closes on Sept. 11. The program runs Sept. 12 through Oct. 3.

Participants, aged 2-10, will receive instruction through livestream meetings on Saturdays.

Four different classes will be offered, including Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer, Pre-Soccer, Soccer 1: Techniques & Teamwork, Soccer 2: Skillz & Scrimmages and Tot-Soccer.

Cost is $46 per player.

Each participant will receive four 30-minute lessons.

“We’re trying to get the word out to all the schools about all the classes we’re offering,” Narvaez said.
