Infant’s death being investigated
Ceres Police investigation

An investigation is being conducted into the death of a Ceres infant girl found not breathing in her home early Monday.

At 1:01 a.m., members of the Ceres Police Department, Ceres Fire Personnel, and American Medical Response responded to the 2100 block of Whitmore Avenue when the parents reported finding their child, named Aaliyah, not breathing. Lifesaving measures were attempted by first-responders and the infant was transported to a local area hospital; however, the child did not survive.

No additional details were released about the death. Social media posts indicated that the child was less than a month old and likely died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise $5,000 to help the parents bury their daughter. The account is online at https://gofund.me/ecc40f17
