Starting in July, sidewalks will be installed into parts of the residential area known as Morrow Village – 68 years after homes were built there.
Located north of Whitmore Avenue between Moffet and Mitchell Road, Morrow Village was constructed in 1954 without sidewalks. The installation will be paid for by Community Development Block Grants. Contractor George Reed Inc. has been awarded the bid of $312,632 with a 10 percent contingency of $31,264.
Phase 1 calls for Garrison Avenue to receive sidewalks from Moffet to Rose Avenue. Construction could be completed by late September.
The second phase, likely to occur in 2023, will install sidewalks on both sides of Rose Avenue.
The third phase will bring sidewalks to the curvilinear section of Eloise Avenue between Garrison Avenue and Joy Avenue in 2024; while Phase 4 will improve Joy between Eloise and Rose in mid-summer in 2026.
The fifth and final section brings sidewalks to homes on Joy Avenue south of Eloise.
