The owners of the new Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in Ceres have adopted Robert Adkison Elementary School Parent Teacher Club (PTC) as one of the places they like to make donations to help out.

On Thursday afternoon Roger and Heidi Custer dropped by the school and presented a check for $1,600. It was accepted by Principal Stephanie Pimentel and students.

The school is in the envious position as the school closest to the Hatch Road store.

“They’re kind of adopting us,” said Pimentel. “It’s kind of cool. We’re very excited. Honestly, our families live right behind the store.”

Roger Custer said the store donated five percent of sales made all day on Saturday, Sept. 23 to donate.

Pimentel said the money will support events at the site and teachers in the classroom.
