Ceres police are still searching for the person or persons who fatally gunned down 18-year-old Michael Illtreb. The Keyes teen was shot during a July 8 party.

On Aug. 9 the Ceres Police SWAT team served a search warrant in the 400 block of Chamise Way in Ceres on a suspect in the case. They seized evidence, said Ceres Police Division Commander Mike Borges, but would not say what was taken.

"Our person of interest was interviewed but was not arrested," said Borges.

He would not identify the suspect but said he is in his mid 20's.

Police are sorting through conflicting statements made by numerous witnesses of the Tenth Street shooting. Approximately 100 persons were gathered at the party, in which alcohol was being served.

Police said at least nine shots were fired from two weapons, both of which have been recovered. Friends say that Illtreb was hit in the crossfire of bullets.

Persons who have information on the caseare urged to call Detective Trenton Johnson at 538-5727.
