A funeral service was held Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson for Anita Mayfield, 78, of Hughson. She died May 1, 2011 due to complications from cardiac bypass surgery.

The Colonial Chapel of Franklin and Downs was in charge of arrangements,

Born Aug. 27, 1932 at home to Frank and Mary Teresa Zambruno. She was raised in Hughson, where she attended school, and remained a Hughson resident all of her life. At age of 21, she married Tom Mayfield, whom she was married to for over 50 years. Together they had three children, Laurie, Lisa, and Tommy. Mrs. Mayfield was active in PTA, the 20th Century Club, and participated in organizing various high school reunions, Italian festivities, and political events.

She leaves behind her children, Lisa Riggs and Tommy Mayfield; and three grandsons, Justin Riggs, Brian Riggs, and Marcus Riggs. She was preceded in death by sister Egla Casazza, brother Louis Zambruno, daughter Laurie Woodward, and husband Tom Mayfield.

Remembrances may be sent to Brain Tumor Association, Leukemia Lymphoma Foundation, or Muscular Dystrophy Association.
