A funeral was held at Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Turlock for Doris Fay Shirk Moore, 58, of Hughson. She died Monday, May 23, 2005 at her home.
Burial was at Wood Colony Cemetery in Modesto under the direction of Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.
Born Sept. 15, 1946, Mrs. Moore was a native of Modesto and had lived in Hughson since 1971. She was a fourth-grade teacher in the Hughson Unified School District for 16 years, and previously worked as a teacher's aide for six years, also in the Hughson district. Mrs. Moore was a part-time instructor at California State University, Stanislaus, for seven years. She was a member of Hughson United Methodist Church. Mrs. Moore enjoyed traveling, reading and sports.
She leaves behind her husband, Kenneth A. Moore of Hughson; three children, Barbara Michelle Abeloe, Robert Anthony Moore and Brenda Marie Vaca, all of Hughson; her brother, Glen W. Shirk of Ripon; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Moore of Hughson and Mary Ann Fassler of Fortuna; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex B. Shirk and Lois S. Mohler.
