A funeral service was held Friday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Effie Georgia Holly Hall, 85, of Oregon. The former Hughson resident died Aug. 23, 2010 in Sweet Home, Ore.

Born March 5, 1925 in Centralia, Wash., to Robert and Effie McElroy, Effie moved to San Francisco in 1928 where she attended school. She met and married Ira Tye Holly in 1945. They spent five years in Lindsay from 1946 to 1951, before moving to Hughson to farm peaches. They later moved to Stevinson where Tye planted and raised almond trees for Stevinson Corporation until his death in 1985. Effie then married Billy Joe Hall in 1988 and shortly after they moved to Oregon. Mrs. Hall loved to cook and decorate cakes and compiled a cookbook for family members. She also spent years researching her family tree and passing the information to her family.

She leaves behind two sons, Robert Holly of Turlock and Michael Holly of Oregon; six grandchildren, Eric Holly, Amanda Dunn, Mike Holly, Tim Holly, Greg Rawlings and Cindy Harris; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Joan Rawlings and great-granddaughter Trista Holly.
