A Celebration of Life was held Thursday at Crossroads Church for Everett Allen Jr., 76, of Turlock. He died at his home after battling Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Born September, 1934 on the Binford Ranch in Denair, Everett was the first of four children born to Everett Sr. and Beulah Allen. He graduated from Denair schools and Modesto Junior College. After college he went into banking and was transferred to Merced, San Luis Obispo, and Delano before returning to Turlock as manager of Security State Bank in Ceres. In 1956 he married Kay Wejmar and they had four children. In 1964 he joined his father and brother at Turlock Hardware, which later became Allen's Home Furnishings. In 1984 he left the family business and went into real estate until his 2998 diagnosis with his disease. He enjoyed golf, singing in church choir and men's quartets, RV camping, boating and riding motorcycles with friends. He was a member of Crossroads Church and SIR (Sons in Retirement).

He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Kay Allen of Turlock; his children, Laura Walters of Turlock, David Allen of Sonoma, Lisa Doerksen of Denair, and Kara Allen of Denair; four grandchildren, Ryan Doerksen of Turlock, Chris Doerksen of Modesto, Shelby and Shaun Walters of Turlock; his brother E.L. "Duck" Allen of Turlock; and his sister Lanita Moen of Turlock. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gene Allen.
