A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Covenant Village's Berg Hall, 2125 N Olive Ave, Turlock, for Frances "Gerry" Gardenhire, 89. The former longtime Ceres resident died Nov. 29, 2011 of natural causes.

Allen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Born February 1922 in Macomb, Okla., to John and Jerusha Price, Gerry was married for 68 years to Neal Gardenhire until his passing in 2009. She owned and operated Gardenhire's Draperies in Ceres for 40 years. Mrs. Gardenhire was very active in Ceres and was the founder of Ceres 4-H Club, and member of the First Baptist Church. She was active in the Ceres Historical Society.

She leaves behind her children, Neal Gardenhire of Washington, Rozann Densmore of Pleasanton, John Gardenhire of Marina and Susan Sanders of Washington; her sister, Mildred Blevins of Porterville; and nine grandchildren,17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Remembrances may be sent to Covenant Village Benevolent Fund, 2125 N. Olive Avenue, Turlock CA 95382; or to Hospice of Emanuel, 825 Delbon Avenue, Turlock CA 95382.
