A Celebration of Life will be held next spring for family and friends of George Thomas Autry, 67, of Ceres. He died Oct. 19, 2009 at his home after a long battle with cancer.

Allen Mortuary in Turlock was in charge of arrangements.

Born Oct. 7, 1942 in Paris, Texas, Mr. Autry spent his youth in San Jose and graduated from Samuel Ayer High School in 1960. He enlisted in the Air Force shortly after his graduation. George was an avid sports fan, hunter, fisherman, and loved automobile racing. Mr. Autry recently retired from the Vallecito Union School District in Avery after 24 years as a mechanic and then moved to Ceres.

He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Carolyn Autry of Ceres; four daughters, Tina Autry, Tami Testa, Tiffany Baroni and Tanya Haley; and his parents, Elmer and Maxine Autry; his sister, Donna Clark; and six grandchildren, Chase, Cole, Chelsie, Dominik, Gabriella, and Brylinn.
