A memorial service with military honors was held Monday at Ceres Memorial Park for Henry Herman Herfurth Jr., 63, of Ceres. He died March 30, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

The Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born FEB. 14, 1945, Mr. Herfurth was a natiev of Merced and moved with his parents, Henry Sr. and Pearl Herfurth, to Ceres in 1962. He graduated from Ceres High School in 1963. Hank served in the Army, and spent a year in Cameron Bay, Vietnam. Mr. Herfurth had been employed by Memorial Medical Center as a maintenance engineer for over 30 years. He was a member of the NRA and the Good Sam Club. Henry enjoyed camping, hunting, bowling and spending time with family and friends.

He leaves behind his fiance, Gayle Horn of Modesto; his son, Anthony Waybright of Oakhurst; two brothers, Art Herfurth of Modesto and Del Herfurth of Merced; his grandson, Michael Waybright of Oakhurst; many nieces, including Tammy Buck of Ceres; grand nephews, including Gregg Buck and Joel Buck, both of Ceres; and two grand nieces. He was preceded in death by wife Patty Herfurth, and his parents, Pearl Herfurth and Henry Herman Herfurth Sr.
