A funeral was held Friday at St. George Parish Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East in Ceres for Imama Adonia Diryawush Pauls, 48, of Modesto. She died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento.

Burial was at Turlock Memorial Park under the direction of Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Chapel.

Born April 8, 1956, Mrs. Pauls was a native of Baghdad, Iraq, and lived in Modesto for 19 years. She was a homemaker and a member of St. George Parish Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East in Ceres.

She leaves behind her husband, Alex G. Pauls of Modesto; four children, Daniel Pauls, Michael Pauls, Diana Pauls and Christina Pauls, all of Modesto; her mother, Shemi Bado Diryawush of Modesto; two brothers, Ashor Diryawush of Youngtown, Ariz., and Peter Diryawush of Modesto;and five sisters, Nora Yacoub, Lillian Hawel, Shamiran Brown and Juliana Carpenter, all of Modesto, and Farida George of Las Vegas.
