A funeral service was held Monday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel for Irene Rayburn Gentry, 79, of Ceres. She died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005 at her home.

Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park.

Born April 25, 1925, Mrs. Gentry was a native of Trinity, Texas, and lived in Ceres for 56 years. She was a cook at Elness Nursing Home for 15 years. Mrs. Gentry was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Keyes. She enjoyed reading.

Mrs. Gentry leaves behind four children, Glenda Black and Janice McBride, both of Ceres, Jim Gentry of Modesto and Tom Gentry of Turlock; two brothers, Leonard Rayburn of Gentry, Ark., and Woodrow Rayburn of Keyes; two sisters, Faye Travels and Geneva Hendrix, both of Ceres; and six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Theo Gentry, her father and mother, Jeff and Hallie Rayburn and two brothers Jerry Rayburn and James Rayburn.
