A funeral was held Tuesday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel for Jimmie Lee Carter, 60, of Modesto. He died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 at the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center.

Burial was at Modesto Cemetery.

Born June 12, 1944, Mr. Carter was a native of Sacramento and had lived in Modesto since 1949. He was a painter for 30 years and had worked for Red Felt Painting. Mr. Carter enjoyed fishing.

He leaves behind his wife, Gemma Carter of Modesto; seven children, Landon Carter and Randon Carter, both of Delhi, Paul Ravelli, Jason Ravelli, Melissa Weaver and Brenda Davis, all of Modesto, and Joe Ravelli of Connecticut; his mother, Pauline Carter of Ceres; his brother, L.H. Carter of Keyes; sister, his Joyce Bispo of Ceres; and 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Hance Carter.
