A memorial service was held Saturday at The kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Ceres for Jose Ramos, 86, of Ceres. He died Oct. 30, 2008 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson after a two-year battle with congestive heart failure.

Turlock Memorial Park & Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born May 7, 1922, Jose was a native of Salao, Faial, the Azores. He retired from Hewlett Packard in Cupertino, after years of dedicated service. He lived in Ceres since 1999. He enjoyed sharing his faith in Jehovah God as well as spending time with his family.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Lidia Ramos of Ceres; five daughters, Lydia Ramos of Turlock, Cidalia Ballard of Fall River, Mass., Raquel McCullough of Tiverton, R.I., and Rose Medina-Brown of Turlock; four sisters, Maria, Georgina, Hilda and Ana; nine grandchildren, Kayla, Chelsea, Joshua, Shannon, Erin, David, Jessica, Ray Jr. and Nicole; and two great-grandchildren, Amber and Sam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Rosa Ramos, and daughter Nelia Ramos.
