The rosary and a Mass were held Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ripon for Joseph E. Cunha, 90, of Escalon. He died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Burial was at St. John's Cemetery under the direction of Deegan Funeral Chapel.

Born Nov. 17, 1914, Mr. Cunha was a native of Ceres and lived in Escalon for 50 years. He was a warehouseman for Carnation Distribution Center in Stockton for 18 years. Mr. Cunha enjoyed traveling, gardening, woodworking and building model cars.

He leaves behind his wife, Elsie Cunha of Escalon; three children, Pat Lenci, Jim Borden and Rick Borden, all of Escalon; two brothers, George Cunha of Modesto and Lawrence Cunha of Truckee; sister, Helen Lima of Tracy; and five grandchildren.
