A funeral service was held Saturday at Big Valley Grace Community Church for Joseph Michael Dias, 52, of La Grange. He died May 6, 2008.

Born Feb. 10, 1956, Dias was a native of in Turlock and lived most of his life in Hickman and recently moved to La Grange. He attended Hughson High School where he was captain of the football team and was named the defensive captain in the all star football game. He was selected as a High School All American. Mike was aggressively recruited by many college football teams including UCLA, and Oregon State but chose to attend Cal State Bakersfield on a wrestling scholarship. Mike was a championship wrestler. He continued to stay involved in Hughson athletics by coaching both football and wrestling. Mr. Dias loved the Lord and enjoyed leading Bible study and was known for his witty sense of humor.

He leaves behind his wife, Staci Dias of La Grange; his five children, Brianne, Rinni, Chelsea, Cameron, and Joseph; his parents, Joe and Agnes Dias of La Grange; three sisters, Vicki Porter, Janine Dias-Avila and Annette Machado; and five grandchildren, Aubrie, Brian, Addison, Claire and Brinlea.
