Joyce M. Carlberg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018 at her home in Turlock. She was 80 years old.

A funeral service was held yesterday at Turlock Funeral Home. Interment was at Turlock Memorial Park.

Born in Las Cruces, New Mexico on Jan. 30, 1938 to Fairell and Eula Bratcher, Joyce was raised in Oklahoma. She moved to Hughson in 1949, where she graduated from Hughson High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Don Carlberg on August 3, 1956 in Hughson. 

An intelligent and hard-working woman, Joyce worked in banking from 1956 until 1984. Between 1985 and 1999, she worked as an administrative assistant at CSU Stanislaus. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling and traveling the country, was an avid seamstress and apple pie maker, and enjoyed attending figure skating shows and the Oakland A’s games. She was a member of a city bowling league and an ardent supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Don Carlberg; her son, Scott Carlberg; her daughter, Kristi (Sam) Broman; her granddaughter, Alex; two brothers, Garland and Ray Bratcher; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother Burnis Bratcher, sister Wanda Johnson; and mother Eula Bratcher.
