Leroy Topie, 81, passed away peacefully at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 with his family and friends by his side.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 30 at Village Chapel Church, 1825 N. Central Ave., Ceres.

Leroy served in the Army during the Korean War and was discharged with a Purple Heart medal. He moved his family to Ceres from Seymour Indiana in 1969. He owned the Chevron gas station on the corner of Whitmore Avenue and Mitchell Road in Ceres for five years. He then worked for Tilly Lewis Foods cannery in Modesto until it shut down and then worked for Save Mart until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Alice Topie; daughter Diana and son-in-law Rick Uecker of Manteca; daughter Barbara and son-in-law Lloyd Aldridge of Ceres; son Robert (Skip) and daughter-in-law Robin Topie of Oakdale, and daughter Joan Younger of Modesto; and nine grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family has asked in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice in Leroy's name, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto CA 95356.
