A graveside service was held on Monday afternoon Lakewood Memorial Park for Lois Lorene Black, 86, of Ceres.

Born Nov. 8, 1923 in Ardell, Texas, Lois was the second of seven children of Claude and Mary Sullivan. She came to California as a child. In May 1947, she married Walter Black Jr. In Modesto. Mrs. Black was a resident of Ceres since 1954. She worked at Tri Valley #7 and at local election precincts. Lois enjoyed crafts, and visiting with company. She was a active member of the Whitmore Church of Christ.

She leaves behind two children, Kathryn and Steven; two sisters; her brother; and seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Walter Black in June.

Remembrances may be sent to her son's Ghana Mission work at Whitmore Church of Christ, 416 W. Whitmore Avenue, Modesto CA 95358; or to the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, 2201 Euclid Ave., Hughson CA 95326.
