A Mass will be at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church for Mariana Borges Sousa, 69, of Ceres. She died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.

Entombment will be at 11 a.m. at Turlock Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Chapel.

Born June 26, 1936, Mrs. Sousa was a native of Santa Antao, Topo, So Jorge, Azores, and had lived in Ceres for 16 years. She previously lived in Half Moon Bay for 17 years. Mrs. Sousa was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, math, watching TV and flowers. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Turlock.

Mrs. Sousa leaves behind her husband, Germano Sousa of Ceres; two sons, Joe H. Sousa and George A. Sousa, both of Modesto; three brothers, Manuel Bordes of Santo Antao, Topo, So Jorge, Azores, Clemento Borge of Ribeira Seca, So Jorge, Azores, and Jose Borges of Salida; three sisters, Maria Parreira of Half Moon Bay, Zulmira Victor of Salida and Adelide Machado of Chowchilla; and two grandchildren.
