A celebration of life was held Saturday for Michael David Newell, 39, of South Modesto. He died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Doctors Medical Center of injuries sustained when his motorcycle collided with a truck on Hatch Road near Ustick Road.
Evins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born Dec. 20, 1964, Mr. Newell was a native of Redwood City and lived in Modesto for eight years. He worked as a residential carpenter for 10 years. Mr. Newell enjoyed gardening, building, fishing and motorcycles.
He leaves behind his wife, Kim Marie Newell of South Modesto; two children, Jennifer Mae Newell of Palo Alto and John Michael Newell of Eugene, Ore.; his father, Henery Newell of Modesto; six brothers, Thomas Francis Newell of Canyon Dam, Daniel Christen Newell of Nehalem, Ore., Joseph Stephen Newell of Manteca, and Richard Timothy Newell, James Andrew Newell and John Mathew Newell, all of Modesto; and two sisters, Catherine Ann Newell of Redwood City and Dorothy Ruth Desfosses of Hickman. He was preceded in death by his son Michael David Newell; his mother, Dorothy Meta Bottjer Newell; and one brother.
