A funeral Mass was held Thursday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Paul T. Castro, 74, of Modesto. He died Jan. 9, 2011 after a brief illness.
Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Born Aug. 13, 1936 to Luis and Demetria Castro in Los Angeles, Paul moved with the family to Fresno County in the late 1940s. He was married twice, first to Mary D. Osuna, then to Robby. Mr. Castro lived in Ceres and Hughson, at which time he worked at Weyerhaeuser Company more than 30 years until his 2002 retirement.
He leaves behind two sons, David Castro and Joe Castro; three daughters, Mona, Mary Ellen and Christina; two brothers, Manuel Castro and Richard Castro; three sisters, Lupe Garcia, Olga Schortner and Mary Glenn; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Luis "Louie" Castro Jr., twin stillborn infants, and first wife Mary.
