A graveside service was held Tuesday at Ceres Memorial Park for Pauline Blankenship Mathis, 86, of Elk Grove. The former Ceres resident died Jan. 6, 2006 at Royal Oaks Convalescent Hospital in Galt.

The Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born June 26, 1919, Mrs. Mathis was a native of Muskogee, Okla., and lived in Elk Grove for eight years. She previously lived in Ceres for 50 years. Mrs. Mathis was a cannery worker for 40 years.

She leaves behind her son, Gary Edward Mathis of Elk Grove; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Mathis, son Harrold Mathis, twin brother Paul Blankenship and her parents, Eddie and Nettie Blankenship.
