A memorial service was held Saturday at Big Valley Grace Church in Modesto for Raymond Lee Rogers, 67, of Modesto. He died Jan. 7, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center after suffering injuries caused when a truck struck him on his bicycle.

Born Oct. 7, 1944 in Modesto, Ray was raised in Modesto where he attended Modesto and Ceres schools. He worked in the tree care business. Ray gave his life to Christ while in the Stanislaus County Jail and was baptized while serving time in San Quentin in the 1970s. He was very active in prison ministries, spreading the word of God to all who would listen. When he was released, Ray traveled all over the country to prisons and churches as an evangelist. He led a lot of people to the Lord and made an impact on many people's lives.

He leaves behind four children, Caleb Lee Rogers, Joshua Raymond Rogers, and Rachel Katherine Rogers, all of Texas, and Kali Kim Rogers of Oklahoma; two granddaughters; and his sister and caregiver, Katherine Jane Whalin of Modesto.

Remembrances may be sent to charities which help the poor and needy.
