Richard N. Shackleford

A celebration of life was held Saturday at a Hughson home for Richard Newell "Dick" Shackleford, 75, of Modesto. He died Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Crestwood Manor.

Allen Mortuary was in charge of private burial.

Born Feb. 12, 1929, Mr. Shackleford was a native of San Jose. He operated Dick's Pump and Electric in Delhi for 21 years, and lived in Ceres and Snelling before moving to Modesto more than a year ago. Mr. Shackleford was an electrician for 22 years. He was active in Delhi community work, the Boy Scouts and the Evangelical Free Church. Mr. Shackleford collected trains and was a member of the Sacramento Railroad Museum. He served in the Navy in 1948-49.

He leaves behind his wife, Betty Shackleford of Ceres; three children, Lee Shackleford of Turlock, Laurel M. Paulson of Atwater and David R. Shackleford of Hughson; his brother, Edwin Shackleford of Pleasant Hill; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
