A Celebration of Life was held Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Thelma Ruth Kindle, 89, of Turlock. She died Feb. 27, 2010 in Turlock.
Born Sept. 16, 1920 in Kerman to Anna and Daniel Karle, German immigrants from Russia, Thelma was raised in Fresno. In 1947, Thelma married Carl Anton Kindle and moved to Hughson where they farmed for 20 years and raised their son Richard K. Kindle. Thelma belonged to the Gratton Grange and she was a den mother for the Gratton Cub Scouts. In 1962 they sold their farmland and built their home in Empire where they lived for eight years. In 1970 they moved to the Glenwood Mobile Home Park and enjoyed many years of camping and fishing trips with the Glenwood Fun Club. She worked for 23 years for Tri-Valley Growers in the Inventory Dept. and assisted her late husband Carl in teaching Round Dancing and Square Dancing. Carl was a Square Dance Caller for Hughson Toe Steppers, Turlock Steppin' Pards, Waterford Huffers & Puffers and the Ripon Snorters. Thelma enjoyed teaching round dance to Hughson youth. Thelma enjoyed spending time with family, celebrating family events and writing notes to friends and relatives.
Thelma is survived by her son Richard Kindle; her stepdaughter Carol Lee Knapp; her grandchildren, Kelli Kindle-Pohl, Lisa De Los Santos, Monica Kindle, Richard Kindle Jr.; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Carl, brother Everett Karle and sister Irene Howser.
