A memorial service was held Monday at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel for Vivian Rae Lasiter, 95, of Ripon. She died Jan. 21, 2009 at Bethany Home in Ripon.

Private inurnment was at Park View Cemetery.

Born Aug. 6, 1913 in Hughson to Ethel and Paul Benedix, Vivian graduated from Stockton High School in 1931. She married Walter Carl Rea in 1940, and they made their home on her grandfather Moore's ranch on Wagner Road in the rural Ripon. Eventually they purchased a home in Ripon. After Walter's passing in 1964, Mrs. Rea enrolled in San Joaquin Delta College, where she earned her degree as a licensed vocational nurse. In 1970, she married George Lasiter, and they settled in Pioneer for 25 years. She enjoyed camping, knitting, crossword puzzles, and was especially known for her good cooking.

She leaves behind three grandchildren, Julie De Araujo and Craig De Jong, both of Ripon, Janelle Gallagher of Morgan Hill; her sister, Della Goertz of Napa; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret De Jong, in 2005 and husband George Lasiter in 1997.
