A celebration of life was held on Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Home in Hughson for William "Bill" Blaechl, 84, of Hughson. He died Oct. 22, 2008 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Born Nov. 21, 1923 at a Hughson residence, Bill lived all of his life in Hughson. Mr. Blaechl worked at the Hughson Creamery, starting out at 37 cents an hour in 1941 and working there for 31 years. When he retired in 1972 he was making $4.92 per hour - the top of the wage sale. In 1950, he married the love of his life Fay. Mr. Blaechl enjoyed mowing his lawn, and often joked that he wanted to be buried with his lawn mower so that he could "mow God's lawn." He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Hughson.

Bill leaves behind two daughters, Nancy Rasmussen of Modesto, Linda Adams of Hughson; and six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by wife Fay, his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Remembrances may be sent to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 296, Hughson, CA 95326.
