Let's do something about 95351 zip code

Editor, Ceres Courier,

You had a very interesting, and very topical column in the Courier. I hope everyone who lives in "no man's land" read it. We, too, live in this area and know positively we are not part of Modesto but have to bear the god awful brunt of "95351."

Did you know we were counted in the Census as part of Modesto? Yes, Modesto got to add you to their population. Did you also know you are serviced by the Ceres Police Department and the Ceres Fire Department? Yes, we are - which brings into question when you need service quickly, e.g. heart attack, stroke, etc., the 9-1-1 operator asks for your address - giving a Modesto address can put them in the wrong neighborhood.

I am proud to be a Cerean. We have good streets, good lighting, our streets do not flood during a rain storm, our civic government is a step above the city we are counted in. Please let us all write to Congressman Dennis Cardoza and tell him we cannot wait another 10 years to be asked where we want our mail to go - the last time we were asked the answers were actually inane - one wrote if I wanted to live in Ceres I would have bought in Ceres. Look at the legal description of your property - you do live in Ceres. Now let's do something about it.

Supportive of Supercenter

Editor, Ceres Courier,

I am writing in favor of the Walmart Supercenter project. Our city desperately needs the jobs and the additional tax revenue. I believe this will draw customers that currently do not shop in Ceres because of its freeway proximity and the grocery pricing. The city needs to move as quick as possible on the endless and redundant paperwork.

Thanks for helping with sales

Editor, Ceres Courier,

Dear citizens of Ceres, I would like to take the time to write and say thank you. I was the lady who was selling candy this past summer to send her son to camp. Well thanks to all of you wonderful people, we raised enough money that he made it to camp!

I would also like to thank the Payless Shoe Source on Mitchell Road for letting us use their parking lot to sell the candy.

My son said it was hard work selling candy but it was worth it in the end.

I also want to thank the nice people who gave us donations, too, It was so nice to see that there are still people out there that have a heart! If it weren't for all of you we never would have been able to send him to camp. Who says Ceres citizens don't  have a heart?  You didn't hear it from  us!
