As the 2011-12 school year looms into view, Ceres high schools and junior highs are scheduling orientations and registration sessions.
Ceres schools starts on Wednesday, Aug. 10.
Central Valley High School is hosting its "Taking Flight" registration/orientation session on Thursday, Aug. 4. Those with last names ending in A through Di need to show up between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.; ending in Do through Lopez, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; ending in Lor-Rh between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.; and Ri-Z turn up between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
CVHS students and their families who come to Taking Flight outside their allotted time slots could experience longer waits.
Taking Flight will be held in the CVHS gymnasium on the campus, corner of Service and Central avenues.
The Ceres High School registration/orientation session takes place on Wednesday, August 3 through Friday, Aug. 5 in the Student Center depending on grade level. Incoming seniors will meet on Wednesday, August 3 between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.; juniors between 10:30 a.m. and 12 noon; and sophomores between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. CHS freshmen will gather between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5 in the big gym. A make-up day will be held in the Student Center on Monday, Aug. 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Blaker-Kinser Junior High School will be hosting its orientation/registration "Roundup" on Wednesday, Aug. 3 and Thursday, Aug. 4, also depending on how the last name is spelled. BK seventh-graders with last names ending in A through Gl will meet between 8 a.m. and 9:10 a.m. on Aug. 3; those seventh-graders with last names ending in Go through O will meet between 9:10 a.m. and 10:20 a.m. on Aug. 3; and seventh-graders with last names ending in P through Z will meet between 10:20 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 3.
Registration for BK eighth-graders will be held Thursday, Aug. 4 on the following schedule: last names ending in A through Ga will meet between 8 a.m. and 9:10 a.m.; ending in Ge to O meet from 9:10 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.; and ending in P to Z meet from 10:20 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
All B-K events will be held in the school gym.
Vision tests will be given during the Blaker Kinser Roundup.
The newly opening Cesar Chavez Junior High School will hold its "Welcome to the Jungle" registration/orientation for seventh-graders on Wednesday, Aug. 3 in the multi-purpose room. Students with names ending in an A through N meet between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.; ending in M through Z meet from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
