The Ceres Blaze continued their run of dominance this past weekend

The nine-and-under travel baseball team placed first for the fourth time.

Ceres captured the 2014 Pony Baseball Mustang West Zone-North Regional District title on Sunday in Roseville.

The Blaze qualified for Regionals, to be staged July 1-8 in Fairfield.

"There's no reason we shouldn't advance to the next round," coach Antone Lopez said.

The Blaze compiled a 3-1 record en route to a first-place finish at the North Regional District tourney.

Ceres topped the Loomis Pirates 12-2 in the finals.

Down 2-1, the Blaze scored 10 runs in the third inning.

Victor Alvarez batted 2-for-3 from the plate with three RBIs and two runs during the course of the game.

Ryan Estermann batted 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run.

Brock Fanconi batted 1-for-3 with two RBIs and one run.

Aiden Taylor batted 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs.

"We played flawless defense, too," Lopez said.

The Blaze collected wins against Roseville (11-7) and Loomis (4-2) on Saturday.

Rocklin dealt Ceres its lone loss (9-3) on Sunday.

"We spend the majority of our time at practice working on pitching and defense," coach Lopez said. "It's paying off. We've been getting better and better."

Ceres posted a combined record of 11-2 while finishing in first place at the Jay Riberia Classic, NorCal Trojan Invitational and Bel Passi Thunder Invitational earlier this season.

The Blaze have amassed a 26-14-1 record this year.

Alvarez, Estermann, Fanconi, Taylor, Brandon Garcia, Diego Nida, Gabrial Lopez, Javier Guerrero, Josh Prestridge, Nick Villalobos, Sammy Wilson and Wyatt Moring have all contributed.

"Last year, we were pretty decent," said Lopez, coach of the Blaze eight-under squad in 2013. "We advanced to Regionals."
