Ceres High School’s varsity volleyball team beat Modesto High and lost to Downey in non-conference play this past week.

The Bulldogs dropped to 3-5 on the year after suffering a 25-23, 25-16, 25-12 loss while battling Downey Thursday evening in Modesto.

Ryleigh Honberger led Ceres High with nine digs, two blocks and two aces.

Valerie Hamilton had eight digs, six kills and one ace.

Jessica Arreola had seven digs and one ace.

Cameron Diaz had six assists and one block.

Ally Hailey had five digs, two kills, two aces and one block.

Kadie Brenning had four digs and one ace.

Baylee Carlin had three assists and one ace.

Shelby Veuve had two digs and one ace.

Kendall Meyer had one kill and one block.

Ceres High edged Modesto High, 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 15-10, on Sept. 9 at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.

Arreola collected 30 digs.

Hailey had 23 digs, seven kills, one block and one ace.

Diaz had 20 assists, four digs, two aces and one kill.

Honberger had 19 digs, 17 kills, six blocks, two aces and one assist.

Hamilton had 15 digs, 13 kills and seven aces.

Brenning had 14 digs and two aces.

Meyer had 10 kills and four blocks.

Carlin had five assists and two kills.

Kaylee Holloway had two kills and one assist.

Ceres High will begin the Western Athletic Conference part of it schedule this week.

The Bulldogs will host the Los Banos Tigers today at 6:30 p.m.
