Ceres enjoys individual, team success on way to third-place finish

The Ceres Dolphins recreational swim team finished third overall and had five High-Point individual champions at the Tracy Invitational, May 26-27, at West High School.

Ceres (729) topped the Turlock Sea Dogs (559), Manteca Dolphins (410) and Oakdale Gators (216). The Tracy Tritons (1,217) and Ripon Sea Lions (1,091.5) placed first and second, respectively.

"This is the third straight year we've finished in the top three," head coach Tracy Bull said. "It's a pretty good accomplishment. We never used to win trophies at this meet."

Ceres' Mario Gonzalez (17-18 boys), Zachary Jones (15-16 boys), Julia Pata (13-14 girls), Jordan Shinn (7-8 boys) and Emma Silveria (7-8 girls) claimed overall titles in their respective divisions.

Individuals

17-18 boys

Cody Azevedo placed first in the 100 back and second in the 100 free.

Mario Gonzalez placed second in the 100 fly and 100 back, third in the 100 IM, 100 free and 100 breast, and fourth in the 50 free.

Maureen Nelson placed first in the 100 IM and 50 free, and third in the 50 breast.
