Dolphins dominate at Oakdale

The Ceres Dolphins placed third in a field of eight at the Oakdale Invitational, held June 12-13.

The recreational swim club racked up 381.5 points on its way to finishing ahead of the Sea Dogs (322), Manteca Dolphins (186), Oakdale Gators (186), Modesto-Stanislaus Sharks (49) and Turlock Marlins (4).

The Ripon Sea Lions (904.5) and Tracy Tritons (578) took first and second, respectively.

Ceres' Cassandra Guevara (15-16 girls), Jaydn Shinn (7-8 girls) and Jordan Shinn (6&under boys) each broke two meet records.

"On paper, I thought it would be a stretch for us to be third," head coach Tracy Bull said. "But we had great success. We had a lot of personal records."

INDIVIDUALS

17-18 boys

Tyler Padilla placed first in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 breast and 100 back.

Genaro Hernandez placed fourth in the 100 breast, fifth in the 100 back and sixth in the 100 free.

Billy Gonzalez placed fourth in the 100 free and 100 back, and sixth in the 100 breast.

Stephen Jones placed fourth in the 100 IM and 100 fly.

17-18 girls

Anna Polovin placed fifth in the 50 breast.

15-16 boys

Stephen Jones placed fourth in the 100 fly and fifth in the 50 free.

15-16 girls

Cassandra Guevara placed first in the 50 back, 50 fly, 50 free, 100 free and 100 IM, and second in the 50 breast.

Cierra Alvear placed first in the 50 breast, second in the 100 free and sixth in the 50 free.

Maureen Nelson placed second in the 50 fly.

Montana Bull placed second in the 50 back and sixth in the 100 free.

Tori Gunzenhauser placed fourth in the 100 IM and 100 free, and fifth in the 50 free and 50 breast.

13-14 boys

Zachary Jones placed sixth in the 100 IM.

Haley Fisicaro placed second in the 50 fly, 50 free and 100 free, and third in the 50 back and 100 IM.

Cheyenne Brazil placed fourth in the 50 breast.

Payton Mahu placed fourth in the 50 back and sixth in the 50 free.

Kimo Guevara placed fifth in the 50 free.

11-12 girls

Ashley Miller placed sixth in the 50 free.

Jadyn Shinn placed first in the 25 fly, 25 breast, 25 back, 25 free and 50 free.

Makayla Estermann placed third in the 25 breast.

Edelya Borges placed fourth in the 25 fly.

Alyssa Stiles placed fifth in the 25 back.

Jordan Shinn placed first in the 25 fly, 25 back, 25 free and 50 free.

6 & under girls

Victoria Silveria placed second in the 25 back, fourth in the 25 free, and fifth in the 25 fly, 25 breast and 50 free.

Emma Silveria placed first in the 25 back, second in the 50 free and sixth in the 25 fly.

The 200 free relay team of Tyler Padilla, Genaro Hernandez, Billy Gonzalez and Stefan Perry placed third.

The 200 free relay team of Cassandra Guevara, Cierra Alvear, Montana Bull and Tori Gunzenhauser placed first.

The 200 free relay team of Megan Braverman, Maureen Nelson, Jenna Rhoy and Anna Polovin placed fourth.

The 200 medley relay team of Bull, Gunzenhauser, Guevara and Braverman placed second.

13-14 boys

The 100 medley relay team of Jadyn Shinn, Makayla Estermann, Edelya Borges and Alyssa Stiles placed second.

The 100 medley relay team of Sarah Starkweather, Hannah Thomas, Camryn Silva and Lillianna Cruz placed sixth.

The 100 free relay team of Shinn, Estermann, Silva and Stiles placed fourth.

6 & under mixed

The 100 medley relay team of Jordan Shinn, Brooke Starkweather, Emma Silveria and Victoria Silveria placed first.

Ceres has collected just three team trophies the last seven years, including two this season.

"The kids take pride in the fact the team is doing well," coach Bull said. "It's exciting."
